Log cabins have a character that most homes just can't match. The raw timber, the thick walls, the way everything feels built to last. But bad lighting can work against all of that. Dim, flat light flattens those textures and makes a space that should feel warm and alive feel dull instead.

That's exactly the kind of problem we got to solve here. This cabin had incredible bones - exposed log walls, tongue-and-groove pine ceilings, vaulted rooflines. What it needed was lighting that actually matched the space. We came in with a plan that layered multiple fixture types to hit every corner of the interior the right way.

The centerpiece of the main living area is a large wagon-wheel style chandelier with candle-style bulbs all the way around. It fits the aesthetic perfectly - rustic and bold without being over the top. In the dining area, we installed an antler chandelier that looks like it was made for the space. Both fixtures required careful ceiling work given the angled, vaulted surfaces involved. Getting the hang height and alignment right on these types of ceilings takes patience, but the end result is worth it.

We also ran LED strip lighting tucked along the roofline beam where the ceiling meets the upper log wall. That detail alone does a lot of heavy lifting. It throws a warm wash of light across the pine ceiling and highlights the texture of those hand-hewn logs in a way that no single overhead fixture could. It's the kind of accent lighting decision that separates a well-designed space from one that just has lights in it. Our team handles this kind of layered indoor lighting design and installation regularly - and cabins like this one are some of our favorite work.

The whole job came together as a complete lighting design - not just fixtures swapped out, but a cohesive look planned from the start. Every piece earned its spot in this space.
